107 Herron High School students have received recognition for outstanding performance on AP exams. The distinguished group of students includes 59 AP Scholars, 23 AP Scholars with Honor, 25 AP Scholars with Distinction, and 5 National AP Scholars. The accomplishments of these students contributed to the most successful year for AP performance in HHS history.

The AP Scholar Awards recognize high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through AP courses and exams. AP Scholar is awarded to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on 3 or more AP Exams. AP Scholar with Honor is granted to students who receive an average of at least 3.23 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on 4 or more AP exams. AP Scholar with Distinction is presented to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on 5 or more of these exams. National AP Scholar is granted to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on 8 or more AP Exams. The AP Scholar Awards are academic distinctions that students may cite among their credentials on applications and resumes.

The Herron High School students recognized include 6 sophomores, achieving both AP Scholar and AP Scholar with Honor awards. One junior student received the National AP Scholar award. Overall, 67% of Herron High School students that took an AP exam during the 2014-2015 academic year passed, significantly higher than the Indiana average of 51%.
