About Herron

Our Impact

A world-class city needs world-class public high schools. We’re making that idea a reality.

As one of the state and nation’s best public high schools, our results are unmatched in Indianapolis. Our average graduation rate exceeds 99 percent. 100 percent of our graduates in recent classes have been admitted to a four-year college or the military. Now in our twelfth year, we’ve also helped to transform our neighborhood – home occupancy and home ownership are up, numerous new businesses have been created, and crime has decreased significantly.

95 percent of teaching staff is Highly Qualified under the NCLB Act; a majority of faculty hold a Master degree or higher.

Herron High School is different. Its students are like no other. They have drive, passion, and have a sense of courage to take on the world like I have never seen. They are brave, speak out on the behalf of others, and will become the movers and shakers of the future.”
