One of the great misunderstandings about a classical education is that it ignores math and sciences in lieu of the arts and humanities. At Herron Classical Schools, subject matter is interconnected and allows students to apply what they learn in one subject to that of another.

Herron High School Students Score Top on SAT Statewide
The State released SAT results last week and Herron High School students came out on top! The results indicate that we are among the best college preparatory schools in Indiana. This is particularly evident with our students of color. Our Black scholars had the highest Reading/Writing college readiness scores, according to their SAT performance, of ALL public schools in Indiana.

HHS Alumna Zoe Black becomes Published Illustrator
What a treat to see Herron High alum Zoe Black ‘14 become a published illustrator! “Nia’s Questions'' was authored by Zoe’s fellow University of Michigan alumnus, Adelia Davis. The collaboration features a young girl who asks her dad a tough question that the author explains “sets her up for a journey of discovery.”
Zoe recalls her education at Herron High School as one in which she was pushed to dig deeper into whatever she was working on and to experiment with new ideas.

Why Latin?
In essence, the four-year Latin sequence at Herron High School serves as an intensive course in logic and logical processes, thereby creating a graduate who is much stronger in critical thinking and the ability for tackling more complex questions posed in a college classroom. In recent years the Roman and Greek culture taught in the Latin classrooms has evolved. We must prepare today’s students for their place on an increasingly global stage.
