Graduation - Herron High School

Commencement is Herron High School’s most special tradition and a celebration of the many accomplishments of our graduating scholars. Parents, guardians and members of the Class of 2019, mark your calendars for these important dates leading up to this special celebration.

Awards Night
Monday May 20 6:30 PM

Class of 2019 Group Graduation Photo
Wednesday May 22 11:45 AM

Seniors must arrive to Harrison Center Gym no later than 11:45 AM on Wednesday, May 22 for a Class of 2019 graduation photo shoot (park on Herron campus). Seniors must bring their caps, gowns, and tassels with them on that day for the group photo.  We will not wait for late arrivals.

Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal
Wednesday May 22 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Murat Theatre

Following the group photo shoot, students will be transported by bus to and from the Murat Theatre for rehearsal.  All seniors must take the bus and may not drive their own vehicle.  They will be dismissed from school upon returning to Herron.  Students who miss the rehearsal will not be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony that evening.

Shoe requirements:

Ladies:  dress shoes or sandals with 3” or less heel–NO FLIP FLOPS, NO BOOTS
Gentlemen:  dress shoes, preferably black

Clothing requirements:  No jeans. Dress-up clothing appropriate for commencement events is encouraged.

Caps may not be decorated. 

Seniors must arrive at Old National Center by 6:30 PM–with cap, gown, and tassel–and report immediately to basement gathering space until the start of the ceremony.

Lobby doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Theatre doors will open at 6:30 for general seating.  Admittance to the ceremony is by ticket only.  Every seat in the theatre is ticketed, so there will be no additional seating for those who were not given tickets.

To maintain proper decorum, we ask that everyone refrain from cheering and noise making during the ceremony.  This is a serious and important ceremony.  Balloons, confetti, or any type of noisemaker are prohibited in the theatre. Security guards will be present to enforce this.  Audience members who behave in an undignified manner will be asked to leave.

Each senior received a parking pass at cap and gown pick-up for the lot on the corner of North and New Jersey Streets.
