Herron High School’s commitment to the educational advantages of technology in the classroom means that students will be making the most of 21st-century learning, as well as practicing the fundamentals of digital citizenship and online safety. Technology is frequently used in all of Herron High School’s classrooms.

At Herron Classical Schools, our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program is essential to our educational framework. Scholars are expected to have an acceptable device available for use in every class.

Device Requirements

At Herron Classical Schools, our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program is essential to our educational framework. All students must bring a personal tablet or laptop to every class.

To ensure compatibility with our academic resources, your device must have the following features:

Operating System: WINDOWS, MAC OS, or CHROME OS
Internet Capability: Reliable internet connectivity
E-reader Functionality: For digital textbooks and articles
Word Processing: Ability to create, edit, and format documents
File Storage: Minimum of 128 GB for storing academic materials
Anti-virus Protection: Reliable and regularly updated antivirus software
Device with Keyboard: Physical or detachable keyboard for efficient typing
RAM: Minimum 4 GB (8 GB recommended)
Hard Disk Drive: Minimum 128 GB storage

Note: While tablets are functional, they are not preferred. However, iPads with a dedicated physical keyboard are compatible with our environment. Laptops or tablets with the above specifications offer better versatility and compatibility with our software and applications.

Device Rental Program

We understand that providing a device may be challenging for some families. Therefore, Herron Classical Schools offer a limited number of rental devices to support students in need. This ensures equitable access to educational tools for all students.If you are unable to provide a device for your student, a guardian must submit a technology agreement to rent a long-term device.

Devices will be delivered directly to students starting on the first day of class.

Failure to return rental technology will result in a $450 replacement fee.

Unauthorized Devices

Students are not allowed to use nor have in their possession any unauthorized electronic devices during the school day. Unauthorized electronic devices include, but are not limited to: cell phones, smartwatches, pagers, headsets, radios, tape recorders, mp3 players, CD players, iPods, etc. Students are not allowed to use unauthorized electronic devices during lunch, passing periods, seminars, in the bathrooms, or on field trips.

Exceptions to this rule are made for electronic medical devices required to monitor health conditions and assistive technology devices for qualified students.
