Herron High School Receives the National Blue Ribbon School Award, Named an “Exemplary High Performing School” National Blue Ribbon School by USDOE

September 25, 2020

We are honored to announce that Herron High School has been awarded the National Blue Ribbon School Award as an Exemplary High Performing School. The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.

The Exemplary High Performing Schools designation is awarded to schools that rank among their state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.

Each state’s Department of Education may nominate schools to be considered for the national award. This year, the U.S. Department of Education recognized 367 Blue Ribbon Schools across the nation.

In her remarks congratulating the Indiana recipients, Dr. Jennifer McCormick, State Superintendent of Schools, commended these schools’ “commitment to creating a climate centered around establishing and maintaining high academic expectations. Their work deserves this national recognition.”

Indianapolis Classical Schools celebrates the dedicated and hardworking faculty, staff and students of Herron High School. We are so proud of our students’ achievements, and our teachers who demonstrate their commitment to our learning community by living out our mission:

Herron High School is a community of scholars that advances timeless ideas and content, builds a culture of respect and trust and engages in an urban environment in order to prepare students to be world-class citizens.

Herron High School is founded on the belief that a classical, liberal arts education, where students are steeped in great historical thought and invention, is the best preparation for a future life of leadership and service.
